Spring 2010
Registration FAQ's
Who may register for Prairie Soccer? How much does it cost to play soccer? TOTAL Registration fees for the Spring 2010 season will be: $35 for returning players, $50 for new players. This is because WYS charges a 1x per year insurance fee of $15. Returning players have already paid this.
TOTAL Fall 2009 season will be:
Players will need to buy their own uniform, shin guards, and cleats in addition to the above fees.
There are limited scholarship donations available to help players who cannot afford it. Also, coaches get half off their child's registration. What is new at Prairie Soccer? What dates should I mark on my calendar?
Exciting things are happening this year at Prairie Soccer!
Why did registration fees increase this year? Fees increased for a variety of reasons, including:
When does the season start? How long does it last?
Practices may begin as early as August 1st. League games typically begin the first week after Labor Day and last for 10 weeks. When and where are games and practices played? Practices are scheduled by team coaches 1 or 2 nights a week at either Hockinson schools, Laurin Middle School, or Pleasant Valley Schools. Click here for a map for these fields. Home games are played on Saturdays at one of the above schools, or at other Vancouver area schools for away games. Players U6-U8 typically play intra-league only and do not travel to away games. Can I have my child "play down" an age group? No, this is a rule set by Washington State Youth Soccer Association (WYS). All Clubs, Associations and Districts must ensure that every youth soccer team, player, and coach that participates in any program that is coached, sponsored, or administered by their organization is registered with WYS. All members must register for participation in programs and competitions under the jurisdiction of WYS and its Member Association each seasonal year. Any team playing a player who is overage or is not properly registered or who is improperly entered on a roster shall forfeit the game(s) in which the player takes part. In addition the coach may be suspended for the remainder of the seasonal year and the subsequent season for playing an ineligible player. Can I have my child "play up?" Requesting your child to be placed on a team older than your child's correct age category is honored only if the coach approves the placement, and the board of directors has approved it. This is a request that is dependent upon space availability and previous years of playing up does not guarantee placement.
PSC needs to see a copy of a certified birth certificate or passport. This is the document issued by the Health Department, not the one with footprints from the hospital. Can I request practice times or locations? No. All our coaches are volunteer, and as we have a limited number of practice locations, not everyone gets the time/location they desire. It is impossible to please everyone! We do give priority field slots to teams that volunteer for field maintenance days, see Jerry Hoobler for more information. I need to have my child on a certain team for carpool reasons, can I do this? We do our best to honor each request, but cannot always do so. How do I get involved with Prairie Soccer? Volunteer! There are many ways you can make a difference! We are always looking for coaches, team coordinators, referees, or sponsors. Contact any board member for more information on ways to help. |
