Parent Referee Training

Parent Referee Training is given prior to the beginning of the season on at least two occasions. Each team needs a representative trained at one of the scheduled sessions. U6 to U8 Parent Referees will be required for our micro-size games. Each team should have at least one volunteer to referee the matches. Emphasis will be on safety, fun, and learning the game. Click on this link to download the instructions. Attendance at one of the pre-season clinics is mandatory.

The local Referee Association, Columbia Soccer Referee Association (CSRA) meets on the second Monday of every month in downtown Vancouver. For more details, see their website.

Remember, if any cards are issued, injuries or special circumstances occur, CYSF must be told. Issue a Misconduct Report and/or a Game Report for injuries or Special Circumstances and follow the faxing/mailing instructions.

Referee Certification/Recertification Classes

CSRA coordinates certification and recertification classes. This is not an activity of PSC but we will pass along schedules and opportunities as they become available.

Recertification for 2009

We have made some changes to our local recertification program for 2009.  There will no longer be one big Thanksgiving clinic as we have done in the past.  This year we will have 4 smaller clinics spread throughout the county, three of which will be early in the soccer season and one will be at the end.  Our goals in modifying the program are as follows:

  1. Provide more local recert opportunities (we have increased from 2 to 4).
  2. Move the clinics closer to the referees.
  3. Minimize the interference with other soccer activities.
  4. Provide clinics early in the season to give a little refresher course to those who have not officiated in a while.

A rough schedule is as follows:

  • August 20 & 21 - East County (Camas)
  • Sept 6 & 7 - North County (Dollars Corner)
  • Sept 27 & 28 - West and Central County (Location TBA)
  • Dec 6 & 7 - Advanced Clinic (Location TBA)

The detailed  clinic schedule can be found at the www.csraref.org.

Please check the website the week  before the clinic to confirm the dates, times and locations.

The August and September clinics are for recreational referees, experienced referees cannot get their required hours at these clinics.

Please preregister with Jill Derry at derryfam@airspd.net.

Cost for the Recert Clinics is $60.00 (Sorry about the increase.  USSF increased their fee by $15).
